Chapter 365: Trapped In Scheme
Chapter 365: Trapped In Scheme
Being born in the royal families which were filled with countless schemes and deceptions peoples and meeting the nobles from an early age, she can be said to be quite proficient in reading a person’s expression and knowing whether the person was speaking a lie or truth and the boy sitting before him was speaking entirely truth.
’Just how many life and death situations, did he go through at this young age.’Seraphina thought. She had already started to admire the boy before him subconsciously.
While the Seraphina and her escorts were lost in thought on hearing Lucas’s speech, on the other side Lucas frowned after spouting everything, he spoke everything, he could to make the princess believe in him but he couldn’t understand what went wrong as they were all staring at him with a shocked expression.
’Just what amazing things did I say while spouting all those bullshit to draw such an expression from them or Did I fail in her test?’Lucas racked his mind thinking about the Seraphina who seemed to be testing him from the moment he entered.
Lucas himself didn’t know that his speech would have such a profound effect.
Seraphina had already been in many situations. Even if there were hard times for her. A situation where her life was in peril was close to none.
Seraphina composed herself, shaking off her surprise. She was accustomed to dealing with skilled manipulators and hardened warriors, but Lucas’s sincerity and the hardships he had endured at such a young age were unexpected. She needed to focus on the task at hand and not let her admiration cloud her judgment.
"Lucas," she began, her voice regaining its usual calm authority, "I appreciate your candor and your willingness to undertake this mission. It’s clear you’ve faced significant challenges, and your experiences have shaped you into a capable individual."
Lucas nodded, still unsure of how his words had elicited such a reaction but relieved that the meeting seemed to be progressing favorably.
At least Lucas could breath at ease...For now.
Anyway, there was silence before Seraphina pointed towards that was put in front of Lucas.
Lucas noticed her signal and quietly pick up the tea.
Lucas heaved a sigh of relief as she stopped questioning him and took a break.
The fragrance from the tea was already making him salivate but he was unable to take a sip without the princess’s permission. Lucas gracefully drank the tea. The tea was so nice and favourable that it felt like it was made by the God of tea.
"Lucas, Is the tea to your liking?" Seraphina asked raising her brows.
"Yes it was quite wonderful and flavourful," Lucas was about to take a sip when he heard Seraphina’s graceful voice again.
"Good, after all just 1 pound of the tea powder cost a million C."
Lucas choke while taking a sip and forcefully calmed himself from spewing the tea.
After gulping it, he was stunned with his jaw wide open. A pound of tea powder costs a million. He was still unable to process the information he got.
If he or anyone would have heard about the price in his previous they would surely die of heart attack or may think the person is buffing.
Lucas looked at the tea in the cup not knowing whether to drink it further or stop drinking.
Seraphina giggled seeing Lucas’s conflicted look and gestured her hand for the ladies to leave them alone.
The ladies bowed down and silently left the room, leaving Lucas and Seraphina alone in the elegant chamber. The atmosphere grew more intimate and intense, the air filled with the rich aroma of the luxurious tea.
"Lucas," Seraphina began again, her tone softer but still commanding, " I have a proposal for you."
Lucas let an bitter smile.
It’s seems that he’s trapped on her scheme.
’Threatening someone directly on one’s face. She surely got a temper befitting of a Princess.’Lucas thought.
Lucas sighed and finally waved the white flag and agreed to her request.
"Don’t worry you won’t be the losing end. Since you will be my butler, to make up for your loss of time. I will train you personally and let me remind you traning with me would be beneficial to you. Do you understand what I’m saying?"
"Did you forget who is my master?"
I asked back, Did she really forget about Yato?
"What was that?"
And that was her reply, She was glaring daggers at me.
"Nope, it’s nothing."
"Do you have any problems with me?"
"No."
Seraphina’s cold stare lingered for a moment before she relaxed slightly, her expression softening.
"Good. Then it’s settled. You will be my personal secretary. This role will provide you with unique opportunities for growth and advancement, Lucas. Make no mistake, it is an honor and a significant responsibility."
Lucas nodded, though his mind raced with the implications of this new role. He couldn’t help but think about how this would affect his already packed schedule and his long-term plans.
"Yes, Miss President," he replied, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside. "I will do my best to fulfill the duties of this position."
"Excellent," Seraphina said, a hint of satisfaction in her voice. "You will report to me directly from tomorrow. My maids will provide you with all the necessary details and your schedule."
Lucas sighed inwardly, knowing his life was about to get even more complicated. But he had little choice in the matter now.
"Thank you for the opportunity, Miss President," he said, bowing his head slightly.
Seraphina nodded, signaling the end of their meeting. "You may go now, Lucas. Remember, I will be watching you closely."
Lucas rose from his seat, bowed once more, and left the room. As he walked back to his apartment, he couldn’t help but think about the monumental shift his life had just taken. Being Seraphina’s personal secretary would undoubtedly put him in a powerful position, but it also meant he would be under constant scrutiny.
He opened the door to his apartment and collapsed onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. "Just what have I gotten myself into?" he muttered.
His thoughts drifted back to the ingredients list for the special mana circuit. He needed to gather those items quickly and seek Isabella’s help in creating it. Solving Seraphina’s chill attacks could be a significant leverage point and might buy him some goodwill.
But first, he needed to prepare for the new role that awaited him. His mind raced with strategies and plans as he drifted off to sleep, knowing that tomorrow would bring a whole new set of challenges.
