I've been an extra participant in a cat and mouse chase for the past half an hour or so.
The Trapping Arachnid would try to use the trees as cover and swing both of us around them to try and lose the Ifrit and to avoid the fireballs that the fire Monster girl was throwing at us.
Sometimes it would look like we lost the Ifrit while flying through the trees but then just as the Arachnid was starting to relax, another blast of fire would come out from below and the chase was on again. Enjoy new stories from empire
I had a feeling that Mother might be guiding the Ifrit to find me everytime she lost sight of us.
The Arachnid was clearly getting more and more pissed as the chase went on.
She had already tried all kinds of techniques to try and shake our pursuers off. She had set web traps around the trees hoping to slow the Ifrit down. Obviously she wasn't expecting such a trap to completely stop the Ifrit as she could simply burn through the web traps.
She also tried hiding in the shadows of the trees, hoping that the Ifrit might fly past us without noticing us.
It worked the first time and the Ifrit really did accelerate past us without even noticing our presence. But then the Arachnid let out a soft chuckle laughing at how stupid the Ifrit was.
The Ifrit seemed to have heard the sound because she immediately turned around and flew straight for our hiding spot.
The arachnid cussed up a storm and swung away before the fire blast from the Ifrit could burn her.
And that brought us back to the current time where the Trapping Arachnid was still swinging through the trees with me on her back while the Infrit was following behind us.
"Come back here!!! Give Mistress back!!" The Ifrit shouted, throwing another fireball that narrowly missed us and exploded against a tree in front of us.
"Just give up already you hot headed bitch!" The Arachnid screeched, shooting a web ball behind her.
The Ifrit had already grown used to the attack and responded almost immediately by dodging it instead of shooting at it.
The web ball ended up exploding into a web wall behind her which was in Mother's path.
I thought Mother might do something to the web but she simply phased through it like it wasn't even there.
The Ifrit then responded by shooting another fire blast towards us, the gout of flames missing us but hitting the web that the Arachnid was swinging on.
Gravity suddenly took hold of us and we plummeted down towards the ground.
The Trapping Arachnid shot out another web in an attempt to stop our fall, but either she was too anxious or she misjudged our weight since her web fell short of the tree that she tried to shoot her web at.
When she turned back to look at me, that confirmed she forgot she was carrying another person on her back which made us fall faster than normal.
At that point, the Trapping Arachnid was clearly panicking as she tried to shoot another random web line but that also ended up missing her target.
Well... I have no wish to end up as a splatter on the ground so I got Eins to cut open the webs binding me to free myself.
I felt a little bad for abandoning the Arachnid like that so I spread my wings and swooped down to catch her.
The Trapping Arachnid looked at me with a stunned expression on her face as I lifted her up in my arms in an awkward version of the princess carry.
"Wh... Why?" She murmured.
"I dunno," I admitted, feeling a little sheepish as well.
Right then, the ground started to rumble and I thought it was either the Infrit or Mother showing up to save me when the wall at the side of the cavern suddenly exploded inwards.
A short figure walked out from the hole that was just created, revealing itself to be a short girl that only reached my chest in height while her body seemed to be wrapped up in mounds of earth.
Naturally, I had to use [Screened] on her to see what kind of Monster Girl she was.

The Burrow Gnome turned to face us, her head tilting slightly at the Trapping Arachnid, "What are you doing?"
The Arachnid scowled at her, "Can't you tell? I'm trying to mate right now! What do you think you're doing?!"
"Doing that is betraying our Master though..." The Gnome pointed out.
The Trapping Arachnid gave her a genuine look of confusion, "Huh? I don't remember us being exclusive to him?"
"It's a new rule... Master just implemented it and I'm here to make sure that everyone is informed of this new rule and follows it."
"In that case, Master can come here and tell me this new rule himself! Before I hear it from him, I'm going to mate with my mate right now!"
"If that's your decision... I will have to stop you by force..."
The Arachnid turned around to face the Gnome, standing up to her full height threateningly, "You can try."
Before either of them could move however, a fiery explosion came from the webbed wall, revealing the Infrit in all her flaming glory.
"Return Mistress to me!!"
Geez... What is wrong with these girls?
