The Off-Worlder gestured to himself, "It was me. I was the one who took those girls away."
I turned to look at Katsuki for a moment before turning back to him.
"Umm... Ok? So... I guess you should let them go now, right?"
He crossed his arms in front of his chest and stood in the centre of the hall, "Those girls are no longer slaves. You can go back and tell the city lord or whoever that they are now free women and will no longer go back to them."
I tilted my head at him, "Eh? Is that what those girls told you to say?"
"Hmph! Of course!"@@@@
I really doubt they did but just in case...
"Could I hear it from them then?"
"Ha! Do you think I'm stupid?! The moment you see them, you're going to just take them away and escape! Well too bad for you, you fell into my trap by coming here!"
He then clapped his hands together and the walls around the room lit up, revealing runes had been carved into them.
Katsuki immediately leapt in front of me to shield me with her body, though we weren't sure what these runes were supposed to do yet.
Of course, I wasn't going to let her sacrifice herself in case this was a trap that was aimed to kill so I had already instructed Eins and my Shadow Guards to come out and protect her if this was indeed that kind of trap.
The Off-Worlder scoffed at us, "Hmph... Typical of using someone else as your shield. So that's your true colours huh?"
Dude... Did you not even see that Katsuki was the one who jumped out in front of me on her own? How the hell did you even come to that conclusion?
I didn't get to say anything since he continued, "This isn't a trap that is meant to kill you, so you don't need to worry about needing to sacrifice someone else to save your own skin. This is a defensive rune where as long as you have intentions of hurting someone inside this area and try to do so, it prevents you from doing it. Also, anyone who fits that criteria would not be able to leave or enter!"
Ok... So it literally just stops us from harming him? I don't particularly want to hurt him now so does it actually stop me from leaving?
Before I could say anything, Katsuki had thrown a knife towards him but the knife stopped in midair before dropping onto the ground.
He smirked, "Like I said... No acts of violence can be made against me while the trap is in effect."
Hmm... Is it only limited to acts of violence? Then are we able to... Say... Push over a large cabinet to make it fall on him as an 'accident'?
But there's a more important question right now...
I frowned at him, "So what do you want from us? You want us to leave or are you trying to kill us by starving us here?"
The girls all looked at each other in confusion, probably because what this guy just said did not make sense at all since this World's version of slavery for volunteer slaves was actually pretty good.
Unfortunately, the guy mistook that as a sign that what he said resonated with them and he tried to push further.
"Together with me, we can dismantle this horrible system! I already have an idea where we can free even more of you to stage an uprising to overthrow the current regime and change the system! We'll make slavery illegal and free all the slaves!"
He then turned to gesture at me, "Look! As proof of my work, I have already captured one of your oppressors! They came here in order to capture you and enslave you all again! You are free to do whatever you want with them! You don't need to worry about them fighting back because this place is still enchanted with--"
Before he could finish his words, every single girl in the room leapt to their feet and pushed him out of the way to rush towards me.
I could see that while he was initially surprised at being pushed away, his lips curled up into a smirk when he realised that all of them were rushing towards us.
No doubt, he thought that the girls were going to tear us apart or something.
Katsuki still remained standing in front of me protectively despite the mob rushing at her but I wasn't really worried.
From the earlier interaction, I already knew that all the girls here did not want to be freed and saw this guy as an idiot.
That's why I wasn't really surprised when they all crowded around me with pleading gazes.
"Miss! Are you here to save us?!"
"Please take us away from this madman! I will do anything!"
"Please believe us, we didn't want to be taken here! A hole just appeared below us and then we fell into it and the next thing we knew, we were already outside!"
"Yes! Then he forced us to come here and kept saying that we don't need to thank him and that he is open to harems or whatever! We didn't want to be here!"
