Chapter 952 Aerial Battle
I turned myself to face the group of bandits that were currently diving towards me, my wings flaring in preparation to fly up to meet them.
Katsuki was beside me as well and I didn't need to ask her to know that she intends to join me in this fight as well, even though she was completely reliant on Eins to carry her in the air but I trust them.@@@@
With a flap of my wings, I shot myself upwards to meet the diving bandits head on.
They must not have expected me to actually do a counter charge since a few of them actually slowed down their dive.
That was their mistake as it now created two groups where one side had no problem with continuing the charge while the others were hesitating about whether they should press on or not.
And it just so happens that there were two of us...
Well, ok, there's three but I'm counting Katsuki and Eins as one since they need to be together but you get my point.
Katsuki targeted the group that hesitated while I went for the first group that was diving straight towards me.
I counted six of them and they had spread themselves into a wedge formation to attack me, all of them riding some kind of flying beast as their mount.
Amongst them, two of them were young wyverns while the other four were different species of giant birds.
The one in the middle looks like a giant eagle while the others look like some kind of owl.
All of them had the race of 'Monster' on them so I assume that these were tamed using Kalomancy or something.
The leader was on one of the young wyverns and he shot forward with a burst of speed to try and reach me first.
Instead of rolling away, I used [Breeze] to propel myself forward with a blast of air as well, closing the remaining distance between me and the wyvern in a single instance.
Both the rider and the monster did not expect me to reach them that quickly so I managed to get the drop on them.
I thought of doing something flashy at first, but decided to just play it safe so I went for the simple action of pulling back my fist and punching the wyvern across the face.
The entire monster jerked back and the bandit on its back flailed as he was sent flying out of his saddle.
I thought he would just fall off his mount but it seems like he was wearing a harness that had a rope attached to the saddle, saving him from completely falling off his mount.
Unfortunately for him though, the wyvern was banking away after receiving that punch from me so he was being shaken all around, preventing him from even climbing back into the saddle.
I thought about going after the wyvern to finish them off but the other five flying bandits dove after me to protect their leader.

Right as he was going to thrust his hand out at me, I created a portal in front of him and he ended up flying through it to reappear behind the other bandit that had been behind him earlier.
His eyes widened as he tried to pull his hand back but it was too late.
The lightning bolt that was supposed to be targeted at me was shot out at the other bandit instead, frying both the beast and the rider and sending them falling out of the sky.
When the bandit that shot the lightning looked up from his fallen comrade, he realised that I was also charging a similar bolt of lightning in front of me.
He tried to dive away but I fired my [Spark Strike] before he could, the lightning striking the giant eagle right in the chest and killing it.
The bandit realised that I had targeted his mount on purpose but there was absolutely nothing he could do as he started falling towards the ground to his imminent death.
Now that leaves me with two...
A scream came from behind and I turned to see the leader trying to extinguish the fire I had placed on his weapon by shaking his lance desperately.
Despite his efforts, the lance continued to be devoured by the fire as it spread its way towards the bandit's hand.
In the end, he opted to just abandon the weapon instead by tossing it aside which was disappointing because I had hoped he would just get burned by the fire.
"Leader!! Above you!!" The second wyvern riding bandit called out, spurring his mount to fly even faster.
The bandit leader looked up as the other had warned, only to see me diving down towards him with my Light Sword stretched to the side.
He raised his arms up in defense but with my activation of its enchantment, the Light Sword sliced through both the bandit and the wyvern, splitting them into two.
The last remaining bandit let out a warcry and turned his wyvern to rush at me, spurring his mount to bite me into half.
I sheathed my blades and waited patiently for them to reach me.
The moment they got within range, I shot forward with [Breeze] again before giving the wyvern a [Lightning Clad] infused punch buffed with [Body Current] layered on top of it.
To be honest... I was expecting the wyvern to just be punched away but... Err... Well... The head exploded.
The corpse of the wyvern did a flip before it fell towards the ground, the bandit that was still on its back screaming the entire way down.
Ok, I guess that's that?
I turned back to look at how Katsuki was doing, only to see her flying over with Eins and a towel already prepared in her hands to wipe off the wyvern blood that had gotten on me.
That's nice, Katsuki, but there's still some bandits on the ground that we need to take care of.
