Chapter 313: Meeting in Dreams
Chapter 313: Meeting in Dreams
"He looked exactly like Nura. At first I thought Nura had somehow turned small again, but his eye color was mine."
"Huh...? He looked like me?"
"That is not the important part here. You met him in a dream...? Was that really real?"
Iseul looked depressed over the fact that the child resembled him so much, while Raon stared in disbelief, still uncertain whether to believe the story at all.
"Unless I imagined it or I am starting to lose my mind. Besides, just like I said, the shaking stopped too."
Now that the child understood he was not alone, he had probably calmed down.
The violent trembling from before had completely stopped, and the egg had already returned to normal.
If it helped ease the child’s loneliness even a little, then that was enough for Qiong Xing.
The child truly was terribly lonely by nature, just like both his papa and mama.
"What exactly is going on here...?"
Raon looked completely bewildered, muttering that he had never heard of anything like this before.
Meanwhile, Iseul simply smiled happily and said it was a relief.
They really were an amusing pair of brothers.
"I do not understand it myself either, but perhaps being alone inside the egg feels lonely. So tonight, Raon, would you sleep together with this child too?"
"I do not understand how you got from that explanation to us suddenly sleeping together."
Qiong Xing only laughed at Raon’s confusion.
After asking him to spread out some bedding on the floor, Qiong Xing laid down first.
Iseul wrapped his arms around him from behind while holding the egg between them, and Raon reluctantly laid down beside them as instructed.
"Could both of you touch the egg too? Since you are both dragons as well, maybe this child will understand somehow."
"What will they understand?"
Qiong Xing let out a soft laugh as he gently stroked the egg in his arms.
"If Mama, Papa, and even his uncle come to see him, then maybe all his loneliness will disappear. Right?"
"Will I get to meet him too?"
"I am sure you will. Please play with him a lot."
Perhaps understanding what Qiong Xing meant, Iseul nodded happily.
Raon still looked confused, tilting his head uncertainly, but he touched the egg anyway as requested.
And when they eventually drifted off to sleep, just as Qiong Xing expected, his child came running straight toward him the moment he appeared.
Qiong Xing gathered the child tightly into his arms.
"Let us all play together today, alright? The four of us."
"Okay!"
When Qiong Xing told him to go greet the figures slowly appearing in the distance, the child immediately ran toward them while happily shouting, "Papa!"
The sight of that small back running toward them was unbearably precious.
"They are both going to be so surprised."
Not only because they had met the child inside a dream, but because of how overwhelmingly similar the child looked to Iseul.
Anyone would immediately recognize them as parent and child.
Or perhaps brothers.
As expected, Qiong Xing soon heard Raon shout in shock, "Iseulnura, what happened to you!?" making him burst into laughter.
"Not much longer now."
Qiong Xing smiled softly as he watched the child walk back toward him while happily holding both of their hands.
...
"Iseulnura, what happened to you!?"
The younger brother who had suddenly appeared before him had somehow become tiny without him noticing.
Raon stared in shock and immediately grabbed his head and face as if trying to confirm it for himself, but Iseul only shook his head wildly, apparently just as confused.
"What happened? Did some strange magic hit you or something? Honestly, knowing you, I always figured you would cause some kind of trouble eventually."
"How little faith do you have in me?"
"You have never done anything in your life that would earn trust fro..."
"Hm?"
The tiny younger brother staring up at him had not opened his mouth at all.
Then who had spoken?
The moment Raon turned around in confusion...
"...He is growing surprisingly fast."
"No, I did not shrink, okay? I get why you panicked, but look properly."
Seeing his younger brother acting unusually calmer than himself, Raon finally settled down a little.
"He really looks exactly like you. But his eyes are Qiong Xing’s. I am happy."
Watching Iseul gently stroke the child’s head with a tenderness Raon had never seen before, he finally understood that the child he had mistaken for a shrunken Iseul was actually Qiong Xing and Iseul’s son.
There were countless things he wanted to say.
How are you this calm?
How are you accepting this so easily?
But the sight of his younger brother smiling so happily made it impossible for him to voice any of it.
"So it really was exactly like you said. He is definitely your child."
Anyone who saw the child would confidently say he was Iseul’s son.
The only difference was probably the eye color inherited from his mother, Qiong Xing.
"Papa, let us play."
"Sure."
The child smiled brightly and grabbed Iseul’s hand the moment he called him Papa.
"U-Uncle too."
"U... U-Uncle? Me?"
The tiny hand stretched toward him was obviously meant for Raon, but he had no idea why he was being called that.
"Because you are my uncle, right?"
"Uncle Raon, come on."
"Yeah!"
The child nodded proudly, and when Raon took his hand, he was surprised by how warm and incredibly small it felt.
That strange naming sense really made him realize this child truly was Iseul’s son.
The child happily hummed to himself while tugging them along by the hands, and when they finally returned to where Qiong Xing was waiting, they found him smiling just as brightly.
Apparently, he had heard their entire conversation earlier.
"I told you so, did I not?"
"...Yeah."
Raon felt strangely conflicted as though he had walked right into a trap.
"Big brother panicking was funny."
"You really do not need to say unnecessary things."
