Chapter 52 Port Enmat
Chapter 52 Port Enmat
Daly Simone, an Extraordinary via the "Corpse Collector" pathway, was originally a Night Watcher for the Blackthorn Security Company in Tingen. Due to her unique talent, she has advanced to Sequence 7 "Spiritualist" in just two years. As a result, she was favored by the Sanctuary and transferred to Harbour Enmart in East Chestershire, where she is expected to become the youngest deacon in the Church of the Goddess of Night.
During the previous incident involving Old Neil, Luze had met her once. He was deeply impressed by her striking and eerie eye makeup and mysterious style, as if she were a true "psychic".
Looking back now, Lu Ze immediately understood why Ms. Daly had been able to advance so quickly. Clearly, she was intentionally playing the role of a "psychic," and had undoubtedly mastered the "method of acting."
"But if the captain of the Night Watch at Enmat Harbor likes Ms. Daly, then he should go after her. Why hate Captain Dunn?"
Lu Ze didn't understand the logic behind it.
and many more...
A thought suddenly struck him.
Two men and one woman, could it be...?
"Because Ms. Daly seems to have a better impression of our captain." Leonard's answer was exactly as he had guessed. "Of course, this is just my guess. You're new here, so you might not know. Ms. Daly is already working in Port Enmat, but she still frequently comes back under the guise of official business to assist the captain. Not only that, they also correspond often, and their interactions are quite natural..."
Lu Ze nodded, recalling what happened to Old Neil that night, the conversation between Ms. Daly and Dunn, and the way she looked at Dunn... it all seemed complicated.
Gossip is indeed a favorite topic for humans, and Klein was listening intently to Leonard's words. He couldn't help but interject, "The captain has been using Ms. Daly's story to encourage us; he really admires her."
The three exchanged glances, all sensing the implication.
"Since they both have feelings for each other, why don't they take it to the next level?"
Klein said.
"Perhaps the captain has some reservations about him."
Leonard shook his head.
The other two immediately understood. Indeed, the captain was older, and Daly had already been recognized as a genius, plus the captain's hair... ahem.
"Don't say that, isn't the captain quite charming too?"
Lu Ze shook his head, recalling Dunn's usual gentleness and wisdom, "Ms. Daly has excellent taste; this is the kind of man worth spending your life with. The captain is the same; it's rare to have such a lady pursuing him, yet he's still hesitating."
"Do you think we should give them a push from behind?"
Leonard laughed.
Lu Ze thought for a moment and shook his head.
"Let's forget about it. I feel that Ms. Daly will be able to win over the captain sooner or later... Besides, this unspoken period of ambiguity might be important to them too. If we just bring it up directly, it will lose its meaning."
"clever!"
Leonard nodded. "I guess the rest of the team thinks the same way."
"Does everyone else know?"
"Even if we haven't reached a conclusion... at least we've guessed the point. Apart from Rosanne, she's really clueless and hasn't thought about anything."
Leonard didn't hold back in insulting the receptionist at Blackthorn Security Company.
"Waaah—"
Just then, the train whistle sounded loudly, the carriage shook for a moment, and then began to slow down. They had arrived at the transfer station, Stohn.
The carriage began to bustle, with passengers disembarking at their stops and others boarding with their luggage. However, only a few disembarked, while many more boarded, gradually making the carriage crowded and noisy. Several ladies entered the carriage, laughing and talking, but suddenly became quiet upon seeing Lu Ze's face. They sat down and whispered among themselves, their eyes occasionally glancing at him, which Lu Ze pretended not to notice.
"Wait a minute, weren't we just talking about Edward Crawford, the captain of Port Enmat?"
Lu Ze suddenly realized they had gone way off-topic. "You mentioned before that he doesn't like Captain Dunn, right? What does that have to do with us?"
"Of course."
Leonard said, "Unfortunately, that Edward Crawford isn't a magnanimous gentleman. He hates the captain, and he'll hate us too... especially you, Luzer."
At this point, he shifted his gaze to Luze, "You're representing the Night Watch of Tingen City, here to clean up their mess at Enmat Port... Knowing his personality, he'll definitely feel ashamed, he'll hate you, and he'll be thinking of making things difficult for you."
ha?
Lu Ze was stunned for a moment, then sneered.
You're petty, and I'm not exactly a magnanimous person either!
"Then we have to do our best to make our captain proud!"
Lu Ze said with a smile.
If the other party is just being professional, that's fine, but if they really want to cause trouble, I won't let them get away with it.
Sigrún has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since and was Dean of the Department of Fine Art from -. In – she held a research position at Reykjavík Art Museum focusing on the role of women in Icelandic art. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and at Pratt Institute, New York, and holds BA and MA degrees in art history and philosophy from the University of Iceland. Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.
The train stopped in Stohn for ten minutes before setting off again, this time heading south. The three night watchmen had a memorable lunch on the train and didn't arrive at Port Engmat until 3:30 p.m.
Lu Ze grabbed his suitcase and stepped out of the carriage. A wave of hot air, carrying the salty, humid smell of the ocean, greeted him.
Looking around, past the crowded throng, one could vaguely see the ocean and the port in the distance.
"Don't bother looking, they definitely won't send anyone to pick us up."
Leonard assumed he was looking for someone to pick him up at the station, so he shook his head and said, "That captain definitely wouldn't be that considerate...Ms. Daly?"
Following the sound, Lu Ze looked and saw a mysterious and charming woman standing near the exit. She wore blue eye makeup, her face was pretty, and her black robe accentuated her unique气质 (qi zhi - a kind of refined elegance/aura), making her stand out among the diverse crowd. Many gentlemen passing by couldn't help but cast admiring glances at her.
Ms. Daly also saw the three of them and gave them a charming smile.
"Ms. Daly, did your captain send you to pick us up? He's actually changed his ways this time."
Leonard led the three of them over.
Daly shook her head. "It has nothing to do with Captain Edward. I came here on my own initiative after confirming your schedule with Dunn... Captain Edward is busy with cases at headquarters and didn't arrange for anyone to pick you up."
Leonard turned around with a smile, glanced at the others, and his eyes seemed to say: See? What did I tell you?
......
The train station wasn't a good place to catch up, so after a few brief words, the group followed Daisy out of the station and into the carriage she had prepared.
"What's wrong with you guys? The way you're looking at me is a bit strange."
Not long after the carriage left, Ms. Daisy asked with a smile.
Having just learned about Ms. Daly and Dunn's affair, Luzer and Klein's attitudes were inevitably somewhat deliberate.
"It's nothing, we were just a little touched to see that you, Ms. Dai Li, came all the way to pick us up."
Lu Ze laughed.
"Are you moved? Is that so?"
Dai Li's expression was ambiguous, neither believing him nor not believing him; she simply repeated herself.
She paused for a few seconds, then suddenly spoke, "The three of you should all know about the role-playing method, right?"
