Chapter 50 Trap!
Chapter 50 Trap!
Mr. Bell was in charge of luring the enemy deep into their territory.
He stood on a flat ground, drew an arrow from behind his shoulder, nocked it, and drew the bowstring taut.
He aimed the arrow at the churning fog to the east, then aimed at the hungry angel. The arrow left the bowstring and struck the monster squarely in the chest.
At such a distance, with such primitive bows and arrows, it was naturally impossible to harm the angels.
But this arrow successfully attracted its attention, and the hungry angel, who had tasted the flavor of human corpses, let out a shriek of joy at the sight of delicious food.
Its massive body crashed to the ground, its six wings folding in unison, the membranes folding, and the bone spikes colliding with each other, making a clicking sound.
Its claws sank into the mud, splashing up a cloud of black mud.
Visibility was limited by the billowing dust, and suddenly three sharp bone spikes appeared, piercing towards the direction where Bell was now!
Mr. Bell, who was used to fighting monsters, was very familiar with their attack patterns. He rolled towards the ruins, but the three bone spikes missed and instead embedded themselves in the mud behind him, their tips deeply embedded in the soil.
Having narrowly escaped the monster's attack, he immediately ran towards the wreckage of the transport ship, deliberately slowing his pace so that the Hungry Angel could see his position.
Bell entered the wreckage and then quietly slipped out from the other side, while the Hungry Angel followed closely behind, crouching low and barely squeezing into the wreckage.
It stomped heavily on the rubble at the edge of the ruins, pressing the rubble into the mud with a crisp cracking sound.
Unbeknownst to it, it arrived at the center of the ruins, where the skeletons were intertwined.
The supporting beams overhead intersect above it to form an archway, with the two pillars of the archway less than five meters apart.
If the hungry angel's wings were spread, they would get stuck between the two pillars, and its shoulders would be pressing against the supporting beam on the left.
"Now!"
At Elphis's command, Brock roared and pressed the detonator!
The shockwave from the explosion of the compressed explosives simultaneously squeezed the hungry angel's body from four directions.
Four bombs exploded simultaneously, shaking the ground and sending rubble, dirt, and metal debris flying into the air, forming a gray-black curtain.
The shockwaves from the explosion collided in the center of the ruins, producing a low, rumbling sound like muffled thunder.
The bone spurs were blown off.
Simon could clearly see that several of the thick, long bone spurs that extended from the sides of its shoulder blades, ribs, and collarbone on its back had been broken off in the explosion.
Klein peeked out from behind the support pillar, his sniper pistol resting on it, the crosshairs in the scope precisely aimed at Hungry Angel's left eye.
He took a deep breath, held it, and pulled the trigger.
The bullet shot out from the extended barrel of the sniper rifle, its trajectory flat and its speed extremely fast! The bullet, imbued with his will, spun through the smoke, through the rubble curtain torn up by the explosion, through the falling soil particles, and precisely pierced the hungry angel's left eye socket!
The turquoise eyeballs burst instantly, and liquid gushed from the eye sockets, streaming down the cheeks like thick, black tears.
Now was the perfect moment. Simon gripped the harpoon tightly, ready to step forward...
"Wait a moment, I'll have Flani cover you," Elphis called out to him.
Flani crouched behind the broken support beam on the outside of the ruins, took out the tattered cloth from her pocket, and pulled out two syringes, one purple and one yellow.
The needle pierced her vein, and the medicine flowed into her petite body. Her shoulders felt as if they were being opened up by an invisible hand.
Her height was increasing, growing taller segment by segment! Her spine made a slight clicking sound, and the hem of her vest was pulled out from her waistband, revealing a small section of smooth skin on her side. It was no longer a girl's waist, but the firm waist and abdomen of an adult woman, covered with thin muscles.
His body visibly became fuller, and his arms were no longer those thin, slender biceps. His biceps bulged out from under his skin, looking like the iron arms that could only be formed through extensive training.
"It can be big or small," Brienne chuckled softly from inside the birdcage.
A faint tearing sound came from the vest; the girl's clothes were clearly ill-fitting.
"Ugh, these clothes are so tight! Boss, didn't you say you'd get me new clothes?" she complained to Elphis, her voice becoming more mature.
"I'll buy it for you after this operation is over," Elphis casually agreed. "Now prepare for battle! Remember to inject the white serum in an hour."
"Alright!" Flani did a few warm-up exercises on the spot, preparing for battle.
Simon picked up the harpoon, and the two of them rushed into the smoke almost simultaneously!
The smoke and dust from the explosion had not yet cleared. Simon's boots pounded on the charred alloy floor, while Florian followed behind him, her footsteps twice as heavy.
He was moving at almost full speed in order to throw out the urn as quickly as possible, but even so, Flannery was still close behind.
Eighty meters away from the Hungry Angel, the outline of a monster vaguely appeared in the smoke, its two arms hanging at its sides and its wings folded.
With the distance reduced to fifty meters, Simon stretched his arms, ready to throw.
But, strangely enough...
Why isn't the Hungry Angel retaliating, or even letting out a shriek, when it's clearly not badly injured?
Fifty meters was already within the range of its arms. Simon had witnessed the power of those grayish-white arms; beneath the knuckles were bones as hard as steel, capable of smashing through the armor plates.
But its arms hung limply at its sides, and the monster showed no intention of using them...
It just stood there quietly, its chest heaving more and more noticeably and forcefully.
With the distance reduced to thirty meters, Simon crawled into the wreckage of the transport ship, facing the enormous monster head-on.
Twenty meters... no!
The hungry angel stood still, its chest expanding! Its grayish-white skin began to bulge outward from the gaps in its ribs, as if someone were inflating it from within.
Simon tried to stop himself, but then he heard laughter—a monster's shriek mixed with the joy of a successful scheme!
Its body suddenly straightened! Its chest bulged outward, and its grayish-white skin turned from pale to dark red, and then from dark red to bright red.
The blood vessels beneath the skin bulged out one by one, like earthworms writhing in the soil, and the bright red muscle tissue burst forth with terrifying heat, causing the surrounding air to distort.
Immediately afterwards, scorching steam billowed out from its chest!
The cage that once imprisoned it instantly transformed into a high-temperature steam oven.
This is a trap!
