Chapter 67: Chapter 67 - Four Weeks PassedLogan thought for a moment, remembering one of the reasons why he’d decided to go to the university.
’I wanted to recruit some allies,’ he thought, contemplating. ’I’m sure there are a few people just like that boy who are in need of money.’
’If I sponsor others the way he asked me to, I could make them feel indebted to me.’
Logan didn’t wait any longer, turning into the same corridor he’d seen the boy go into.
’Every student that enters the school has at least an A-rank affinity,’ he thought. ’Which means it’s guaranteed to be worth it.’
Looking through the corridor, he saw a silhouette of the boy in the distance.
’Is that him?’ he thought, following after the silhouette.
Going after him, it didn’t take long before he spotted the boy descending down a flight of stairs to reach the common dormitories.
Logan caught up to the boy quickly, tapping him on the shoulder.
’’Why’d you walk away without hearing my answer?’’ Logan asked.
The boy spun around, jumping back with a frightened expression.
’’W—What?’’ the boy asked, still backing away.
"I asked you why you walked away without hearing my answer," Logan repeated, smiling as he stood in front of him.
For a split second, the boy’s expression showed a glimpse of surprise, before being replaced by the same frightful expression.
’’I—I didn’t want to offend you,’’ the boy responded.
’’What made you think I’d get offended by just a few words?’’ Logan asked, not entirely surprised.
Instead of answering, the boy shook his head slightly.
Logan raised an eyebrow, confused.
"Well," he said, shaking his head. "I don’t get offended that easily."
He glanced at the paper-thin boy, letting out a quiet breath before continuing.
"And you weren’t wrong to ask," he added. "Most people don’t have the courage to do what you did."
The boy looked unsure at Logan, not knowing what to say.
’’You said you needed help, right?’’ Logan asked, crossing his arms while observing the boy. ’’Gear, food, better techniques. I’m willing to offer those.’’
The boy’s eyes widened. ’’You’re... serious?’’
’’What’s your name?’’ Logan asked, giving a nod.
’’Ethan,’’ the boy replied, swallowing hard.
Logan sighed. ’’And your surname?’’
’’Sorry,’’ the boy apologized, bowing deep. ’’My name is Ethan Vince.’’
Pulling up the hologram on his wrist, Logan typed in his name and sent him a message.
’’Send me your details and message me whatever you need,’’ Logan said, smiling. ’’I’ll take care of it.’’
Ethan looked at him, shaken.
’’Why me?’’ he asked, his mind chaotic.
Logan, who’d started to walk away, turned back to him.
’’Because you were desperate enough to ask,’’ Logan answered. ’’People who aren’t afraid to swallow their pride for self-improvement will go a long way.’’
’’Ah...’’ Ethan said, staring at Logan as he turned the corner.
"Owen and Julien were wrong," he muttered, watching Logan turn the corner. ’’He didn’t turn me away like they said he would.’’
Walking away, Logan felt satisfied.
’That should have left a great first impression,’ Logan thought, smirking.
’Supporting someone like that can only work out positively,’ he thought. ’He gets stronger, my reputation gets better, and he’ll owe me in the future.’
’Hell, he might even decide to come work for my company.’
Returning back to his own floor, he entered his room to continue working on his next goal.
’I need to hire people for proper re
’Pretty good rewards,’ Logan thought, giving a small nod. ’While the combat suit isn’t exactly something most rich students need, the S-rank resources are always welcome.’
Glancing at the system’s one-day cooldown, he couldn’t help but shake his head as he thought about what had happened the past four weeks.
